YouTube says it has more than one billion unique users every single month.
"Nearly one out of every two people on the Internet visits YouTube," the company said in its statement.
YouTube, a video-sharing website, was created by three former PayPal employees: Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim in February 2005.
In November 2006, YouTube, LLC was bought by Google for US$1.65 billion, and now operates as a subsidiary of Google.
The first video which is still available on the website was uploaded by co-founder Jawed Karim and titled Me at the Zoo.
