Lagos Govt. Shuts Ladipo Market Again!

Ladipo Int'l Market

The multimillion naira Ladipo International Market was shut down Monday 25th February by state Ministry of the Environment due to poor sanitation. The Ministry of the Environment stormed the market in a convoy of  policemen, using canisters of tear gas to disperse scores of traders and spare parts buyers who had attempted to gain access into the market.

The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello, reportedly visited the market last week Tuesday and warned the traders of imminent closure if the traders did not take proper steps to clean  the market and make the environment habitable.

It is said the state government had lots of issues with the market, ranging from lack of toilet facilities, degradation of the environment with fuel and diesel, hooliganism as well as traders in the market turning themselves into another government.
